Dozens of swimmers joined the celebrations as they splashed in the ocean on Christmas Eve in the principality, though it is not clear whether or not the main man took the plunge.

While some of the women braved bikinis with the temperature just breaking into the low teens, most of those taking part donned Santa costumes.

The Christmas tradition has been running since before his 2011 marriage to Princess Charlene, who was a former Olympic swimmer herself.

They have two children together - Princess Gabriella, Countess of Carladès and Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco.

They were being taught to swim this year, though the young heirs were not spotted at their father's annual celebration.
